It's taken me this long to catch up after spending the weekend in PA, and my stomach sunk when I saw this post. U-Haul is evil, I have had too many problems with them in the past to ever even think about using them again. On behalf of disgruntled U-Haul customers everywhere, I apologize that we haven't found an effective way to warn you in advance about this stuff.

Please update us and let us know what finally happened!

same here as well. When we were moving from Troy to Malta, I found out the day before the move that if I wanted a truck, I could drive 30 minutes south but they werent sure if it was going to be there.

Cancelled the reservation, and called Budget. They hooked us up, and for cheaper than the original too (with some kinds words for UHaul thrown in for good measure).

You can't win when you're moving. When I got a UHaul to move in February, I reserved it over the internet, and they never called to tell me where my local pick up was, I had to call them. Then when I showed up at the local office, they told me they didn't do in town moves and had no record of my reservation. Luckily the local guys were nice and helped me out, but yeah, down with UHaul. Down with moving in general.

Let me know if there's anything I can do help.

oh man!
UHaul SUCKS. The same shit happened to me when I tried to move out of Brooklyn a few years ago-- i told the people to their face i'd never use uhaul again and tell all my friends not to use uhaul, and she told me point blank she didnt care.

The local franchises hate the people at the top, and their hands are tied anyway; the people at the top are completely nonresponsive and generally make a living off screwing their customers and franchises over, then compensating with advertising and ludicrous brand-name recognition.

yar! let me know if i can lend a hand.
